Majengo is about a mile in from the main Majengo community road, via a potted, wet, dusty, mangled, and maimed road, which during rainy season is impassable. Flooded by water sloshing over eroding ditches on each side, and pitted by herds of Masai cows, bikes, motorcycles, and kids it is barely passable in good weather…. Read more
Every time we go over to Tanzania, we order new drums for the kids to top up their fabulous Majengo drum band. It is so exciting to see and hear the kids playing, singing, and dancing on the big outdoor porch in front of the Serengeti house at Majengo!
After hours of practicing every day after school, with dancing, drumming, singing, and acting our Majengo kids joined lots of other schools at a fabulous (but very hot!) African Children’s Day event out in the Masai village of Selela.
Our basketball/netball court is up and running, and both the Majengo and neighbouring kids love it! Kids at Majengo excel on their school teams – netball for the girls and soccer for the boys. This year, Godlisen made it onto the men’s Majengo community soccer team – our sports hero!
